'I tested Poundland, Asda, Aldi and Sainsbury's doggy poo bags and there was one clear winner' - Jam

There is something weird about cleaning up after your dog.

From the dog's point of view, it must seem even weirder: "Why is he picking up my poo, I pooed in that spot for a reason so why is he carrying it around in a small black bag?"

It's an interesting thought, but the reality is a dog's poo must be cleaned up, no matter how gruesome or odd the task may seem.

I take my dog for a walk every day, but I never give a moment's thought about the quality of the poo bag, or what it smells like (more on that later).

After searching the internet I couldn't find a comprehensive breakdown of doggy poo bags, so I took it upon myself to test, first-hand, the best and worst Britain's leading supermarkets have to offer.

Poundland

Price: £1 (obvs)

Quantity: 300

Verdict: Thin and flimsy. It didn't feel like there was much between me and the poo. Okay for little Pomeranian poos but could be a struggle for owners with larger dogs. Can't argue with the value though.

Aldi

Price: £0.69

Quantity: 100

Verdict: Not only are these bad boys biodegradable but they also smell of lemon - yes, lemon. These bags were considerably bigger than the Poundland ones but only slightly more robust.

Good Boy from ASDA

Price: £1

Quantity: 150

Verdict: They smell like a vanilla candle (incredible) and it was a joy to pick up the poo with these. A little on the thin side, but who cares when the smell is that good? They also came with instructions which seemed a little unnecessary, but I appreciated it. Disclaimer; these aren't ASDA's own brand, but they were bought there for a reasonable price.

Sainsbury's

Price: £1.15

Quantity: 50

Verdict: The premium poo bag. Big and strong, but no personality.

And the winner is...

Good Boy from ASDA, hands down. I didn't think it was possible to get this excited about poo bags, but it is, seriously you've got to smell these.

Honourable mention for Aldi as well, a very reasonable price for a 100 large poo bags with a hint of lemon zest.
